Madeline “Mandy” Beck, 1987
Thanks Mandy Beck, class of 1987, for offering to be a featured alum.
Mandy lives and works in the Washington, DC area with her family but she does get back to visit her friends and family in Indianapolis often. We hope to see her at some of our fun events this year!
- What is your name?
Madeline “Mandy” Beck
- What year did you graduate from STA?
1987
Broad Ripple High School
University of Connecticut
Indiana University
- Where do you live now?
Bowie, Maryland (suburb of DC)
- What have you been up to since STA?
I have been working in marketing communications and advertising for close to 15 years at agencies coast-to-coast. I have worked and resided in Indianapolis, NYC, Los Angeles and now the DC area. A handful of the accounts I have managed include Pfizer, Unilever, Honda, Acura, the US Department of Education and the Social Security Administration.
- Please tell us about your family.
I have been married to my husband, Derek, for nine years. He is a fellow Midwesterner who shares a love of basketball. We have two spirited daughters, Alexandra (age 3) and Helena (age 1), who keep us on our toes. Two rescued cats are also a part of our family.
- What is your favorite STA memory?
The 1-2-3 house in Mrs. Holland’s 2nd grade class room.
I have so many other favorite memories: my wonderful classmates, playing CYO sports, participating in talent shows, and my classroom winning a computer (which was so huge and limited in what it could do) by participating in the AUL 5k run.
I loved how diverse STA was compared to other Catholic schools in the area. The students were from a wider range of backgrounds and faiths.
- What do you like to do in your spare time?
In our spare time, my family takes advantage of DC’s many museums and attractions.
- What words of advice would you offer a current STA student?
Make the most of your time at STA. Have fun, enjoy your studies, get involved in STA’s sports and events, and treat your classmates and teachers kindly.
