CHESS @ ST. THOMAS: Two different opportunities…

First, Chess classes during Wednesday lunch/recess time with Learning Through Games!

Signups for K thru 8th grade – all levels.

This program is great for ALL levels, and is taught in a fun way!

Classes (Monday’s during lunch and recess, one day a week) are being offered at St. Thomas beginning the week of Sept. 11th thru Christmas break.

“Learning Through Games” has taught Multiple State Champion Scholastic Teams.
However we are known for our fun and kid friendly style of teaching.

Cost is $101 for all sessions.

CYO CHESS

CYO Chess Team (After school):

This is our chess team for school v. school competitions. It is a series of after-school Wednesday practices (3-4p, August-Sept), followed by five weeks of Wednesday matches at other schools (3-6p, October-November), and a big Saturday tournament (8a-3p, Nov. 18). Matches have age groupings: 3rd Gr. & Under, 6th & Under, 8th & Under. It is coached by Mike Chapuran (STA dad and founder of Indy Chess) and Kevin Hoy (former STA grandparent and husband of our former science teacher and current robotics coach Mrs. Sandy Hoy).

It costs $50 (fee we pay to CYO) + $15 for a T-shirt (only if needed; we’re using the blue sausage ones again). It is only for K-8 kids who plan to participate in the matches.
