St. Thomas Aquinas School located at the corner of 46th & Illinois Streets, in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood - a racially and economically mixed area on the north side of the city. Our students come from the surrounding neighborhood, the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood, downtown, and many other parts of the city.
STA has earned a reputation as an academically challenging, caring and open school community. We focus on educating the whole child, helping each student develop wisdom, compassion and leadership. We welcome non-traditional and non-Catholic families.

At Saint Thomas Aquinas School, our mission is to create opportunities for students to grow spiritually, academically, socially and physically in a safe environment.
Students will grow spiritually. At Saint Thomas Aquinas School, the church, school families and faculty will provide an understanding of the basic tenets of our Catholic Faith which encourages students to participate in the sacraments, embrace Christian values, and serve others.
Students will grow academically. At Saint Thomas Aquinas school, faculty will provide a rich curriculum utilizing technology, and other differentiated teaching techniques which accommodates all styles of learning, encourages critical thinking, and fosters a love of learning.
Students will grow socially. At Saint Thomas Aquinas School, the church, school families and faculty will provide opportunities for students to interact with a diverse community of people in an environment which encourages tolerance, empathy, respect, and a sense of belonging.
St. Thomas Aquinas began its first Resource program in 1985 with one part-time teacher serving 7 students. Today we are proud to have expanded into the Differentiated Learning Program serving over 80 students. We currently have two sections to this program.
The Resource Program has three full time teachers who work with students who have learning differences. We offer a variety of services, tailored to meet individual needs. These can range from assisting students several times a day, to meeting once a week. Also, our Resource Program has won two national awards through the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA).
The Challenger Program has 3 part time teachers, all who work with students who need a more enriched curriculum. Students in grades 1 thru 4 have the opportunity to participate in Challenger for
Our DLP program continues to grow and evolve. DLP teachers receive training several times a year and are constantly looking for ways to improve the programs. All three Resource classrooms have laptops and Smart Board Technology available for student use. The entire DLP department looks forward to expanding and improving in the years to come.

St. Thomas Aquinas is a 2005 Blue Ribbon School! On September 23, 2005, U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings announced that St. Thomas Aquinas is one of the nation's 2005 Blue Ribbon Schools. This program, now in its 19th year, honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.
