St. Thomas Aquinas New Priest Announcement

I am delighted to introduce our new pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas — Fr. Varghese Maliakkal. He will begin his new assignment on Wednesday, Aug. 5, a month earlier than previously announced. The extra time will allow him to get settled before the start of the school year.

Fr. Varghese, 63, currently is pastor of Sacred Heart parish in Clinton and St. Joseph parish in Rockville. He also serves as Catholic chaplain at the federal prison in Terre Haute. Previously, he was pastor at St. Michael the Archangel in Indianapolis from 2006-2014.

A native of Imphal, India, Fr. Varghese was ordained in 1985 and worked in that archdiocese for a number of years both as a parish priest and rector of St. Thomas Seminary in the northeastern state of Manipur. His first assignment in the United States was at St. Denis parish in Yonkers, N.Y. He served as parochial vicar from 1995-2000.

Welcome, Fr. Varghese!
