THANK YOU, MOM<\/strong><\/h4>\n

How did God create the first Mom? By the time the Lord made the woman he was into his sixth day of creation and working overtime. An angel approached and said “Why are you spending so much time on this creature?” And the Lord answered and said, \u201cI am making a woman who is to become the mother of all mankind.\u00a0 So she should have some special features: 1) Six pairs of hands, five of them invisible. 2)\u00a0 Three pairs of eyes, one visible pair in the front, the second and the third invisible pairs at the back and at the sides of her head.\u00a0 3) A large and elastic heart. 4) A lap that can hold three children at one time and that disappears when she stands up.<\/p>\n

The angel said, \u201cI can guess why a mom should have six pairs of hands and a large heart, but why three pairs of eyes?\u00a0 God said, \u201cOne pair of invisible x-ray eyes at the sides to see through closed doors when she knocks at the door asks, “What are you kids doing?”\u00a0 And she already knows what is going on inside.\u00a0 The second invisible pair at the back of her head is to see what she is not supposed to see, but has to see as a responsible mother.\u00a0 And of course, the third pair of normal eyes in the front is to look at a child when he makes a mistake and say without uttering a word, \u201cDear, I understand you, I love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAny other specification?\u201d the angel asked.\u00a0 God said, \u201cShe should be able to run on black coffee and leftovers.\u00a0 She should have a kiss that can cure anything from a bruised leg to a broken heart from a disappointing love affair.\u00a0 She should be able to heal herself when she is sick.\u00a0 She should feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger, and finally she should have eyes that shed tears of joy and pride, tears of sadness, tears of disappointment and tears of old age aches and loneliness.\u201d\u00a0 The Angel was impressed. “You are a genius, Lord, this woman is amazing.\u201d Is this not the picture of your mom?\u00a0 [Adapted from Erma Bombeck\u2019s essay entitled, \u201cWhen God Created Women\u201d].<\/p>\n

As we celebrate Mother\u2019s Day today, consider how your mothers, grandmothers, and godmothers, and those persons like mothers have shown you the way to God by their words and deeds.\u00a0 No parent is perfect, but most do the best they can to care for their children and help them to know God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Who are the mothers you have known?\u00a0 Say a prayer for them today in gratitude.<\/p>\n
