Mission Statement: Providing emergency food to people in need in our community and surrounding area

The Boulevard Place Food Pantry is a work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Indianapolis and is located at the intersection of 42nd Street and Boulevard Place (4202 Boulevard Pl., Indianapolis, IN 46208).

Originally founded in a church basement at St. Thomas in 1982, it provides emergency food for those in need.

A family representative may come once a week to receive between 17 or 25 items (depending on family size) of food or supplies (such as soap, personal items, and diapers).

Recipients are offered a choice of items, except on the Wednesday drive-up when they receive a pre-packed order.

The pantry is open:

-

- Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (drive up only)

- Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (inside shopping)

- Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon (inside shopping)

Volunteers in this ministry check in clients, fill orders, stock shelves, pack and sort food, and help clean the pantry, during different “off” days. We need people who can give 4-20 hours per month.

For more information, email the volunteer coordinator Amy at ataylor@svdpindy.org.

To learn more about the history of the pantry, check out this documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHYBJiKQ8SY

In the most recently completed fiscal year (2025-26) we set records both for households served (21,576) and pounds of food handled (838,045).

Many sources together supply the pantry’s annual food total.

First and foremost, however, the five supporting parishes contributed 79,284 pounds of food in FY 2026, an increase of about 27% over the previous fiscal year. Immaculate Heart of Mary provided 23,574 pounds; Christ the King, 18,969; St. Luke the Evangelist, 18,873; St. Thomas Aquinas, 14,289; and St. Joan of Arc, 3,579.

Beyond donating your time and talent you can find donation locations in the STA Narthex for dropoff of no perishables. Those collections show how individual family’s donations add up over a year and why every pound is precious beyond measure. (Sometimes folks give us surplus items from their kitchen, buy on-sale bulk from a Costco, or follow a seasonal theme or campaign).
