The Creation Care Ministry fulfills its mission by<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encouraging parishioners to explore the spiritual foundations of ecological actions<\/li>\n<li>Providing education and assistance to help parishioners become good stewards of the environment in their own homes and workplaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This ministry also works to develop a long- term environmental action plan for the parish and school and to assist parish leaders and ministries to lessen any negative environmental impacts we may have as a parish.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000\"><b>About<\/b><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #800000\"><b> Laudato Si<\/b><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.staindy.org\/church\/files\/2025\/01\/Laudato_Si_Action_Platform_Logo.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8791 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.staindy.org\/church\/files\/2025\/01\/Laudato_Si_Action_Platform_Logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"257\" height=\"86\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.staindy.org\/church\/files\/2025\/01\/Laudato_Si_Action_Platform_Logo-200x67.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.staindy.org\/church\/files\/2025\/01\/Laudato_Si_Action_Platform_Logo.jpg 296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 257px) 100vw, 257px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pope Francis calls us to hear the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor in his 2015 encyclical, \u201cLaudato Si\u2019: On Care for Our Common Home\u201d.\u00a0 The Laudato Si\u2019 Action Platform is a way for us to live the teachings of Laudato Si\u2019. The platform is organized around 7 Laudato Si\u2019 goals that integrate creation care and Catholic social teachings more fully into our lives and practices.\u00a0 All are invited to join the platform, reflect on how the Laudato Si\u2019 goals connect with their lives, and make a plan to live more sustainably.\u00a0 For a summary of both the goals of Laudato Si and the Laudato Si Action Platform, please click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staindy.org\/church\/files\/2025\/01\/Laudato-Si-goals-and-LSAP-description.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>HERE (PDF).<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>STA enrolled in the platform in 2022 and created a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staindy.org\/church\/files\/2025\/01\/2022.23-FINAL-STA-Parish-LSAP-Reflection.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>reflection (PDF)<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and an initial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staindy.org\/church\/files\/2025\/01\/2022.23-FINAL-STA-Church-Laudato-Si-Action-Plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">2022\/23 action plan (PDF)<\/span>.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, as a result of work based upon the initial 2022\/2023 plan, a <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.staindy.org\/church\/files\/2025\/07\/St.-Thomas-Aquinas-2025-LS-Action-Plan.Final_.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 Comprehensive Laudato Si Action Plan (LSAP)<\/a><\/strong><\/span> was developed and formally adopted by the STA Parish Council in June of 2025.\u00a0 As part of this plan, the parish and school have made <strong>four commitments<\/strong> that align with the seven Laudato Si\u2019 goals and have identified action steps to support those commitments.
