RACE & CULTURE COMMITTEE

November is Black Catholic History Month

Black Catholic History Month highlights the contributions of Black Catholics every November.  It coincides with the feasts of All Saints Day, All Souls Day, St. Martin De Porres, the birth of St. Augustine, and the death of Zumbi of Palmares.  The commemoration began in 1990 at the request of the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus during their annual meeting at Fordham University in New York City.

You can see the portraits of the Six African Americans on the Path to Sainthood along the hallway leading to the school.  You can also view short videos from the Archdiocese about these holy people.  Included are many local African American Catholics.   Our former STA associate pastor, Father Kennth Taylor (Fr. KT), has a video as well.  Strive to increase your Black Catholic History knowledge by viewing these videos during the month of November, using this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPhNWQ871Hs6LSQi0UyfBVQ/videos
