St. Dominic Mission Society is the foreign mission organization of the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Albert the Great (Central USA).  Our principal foreign mission is in Puerto Rico.

Presently our greatest need there is:
Restoration of church roof:  Due to Hurricane Maria in 2017, as well as subsequent hurricanes and severe weather, the roof of our Shrine of St. Martin de Porres in Cataño, Puerto Rico, is in need of major repair. The economy in Puerto Rico is also in serious crisis and we are in need of financial assistance to repair our church, which is estimated to cost $51,000.

Mission Appeal preacher,  Fr. Jerry Stookey, OP, was ordained a Dominican priest in Denver, Colorado,  August 8, 1978. Additionally, he is a priest with faculties and good standing in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. He is currently director of St. Dominic Mission Society, the foreign mission office of the Dominican Friars. He has over 10 years of missionary experience in Nicaragua, Cuba, and Puerto Rico.

Donations:
A second or special collection will be taken at all the masses for St. Dominic Mission Society. Make checks payable to St. Thomas Aquinas Church with memo for Dominican missions. These contributions are sent by the STA Parish Office to the Mission Office of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, which in turn sends the total donation to St. Dominic Mission Society, designated for church roof repair in Cataño, Puerto Rico.

We seek your prayers for our vocations and ministries in Puerto Rico, as well as your charitable donations for this mission.  Thank you for your support and prayers.
