The Indiana Dental Association Foundation for Dental Health, Inc. (IFDH) will host its first MOM event on April 24 and 25, 2015 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. IFDH and the IndianaMOM Committee have set a lofty goal of charitable dental care for 2,000 patients over the two days.
<!–Any charitable event requires planning and volunteers but this event is monumental. The IndianaMOM Committee is busy planning to construct a "dental city" to provide care for those patients who will come. One of the main needs is going to be for volunteers of all kinds. The IndianaMOM planners anticipate needing to recruit over 1,000 volunteers total including: dentists, specialists, hygienists, assistants, lab technicians, suppliers, educators, students, infection control, equipment maintenance, patient transport, hospitality help and a host of general volunteers.
–>IndianaMOM will be a tremendous opportunity to provide free dental service, educate, and coordinate care for underserved patients. Planners are organizing efforts to partner with local and state agencies to assist patients with:
- discovering overall wellness resources
- accessing social services resources
- learning habits which will improve oral health
- finding a dental home
