DAY OF SANCTIFICATION
St. Thomas Aquinas Parishioners and Parish
Friday, April 8, 2022
This year let us set aside an entire day for the sanctification of our parishioners and parish. Just what is sanctification and how do we achieve it? Sanctification is the work of God to make us holy, to become more like Christ and changed into His perfect likeness. It requires our separation from sin, from the presence of evil in our lives, a change in our behavior and attitude that we may live according to God’s design and purpose. To become sanctified, to become holy, requires active participation on our part. We must live according to God’s word and be cleansed, washed free of all sin.
Thus we have set aside Friday April 8, to spent time in Adoration of the Holy Eucharist and to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Penance or Confession. Here we acknowledge our sins before God, express our sorrow, receive the healing love of God through His mercy and forgiveness, make reparation for what we have done and resolve to do better in the future.
Our Day of Sanctification and Reconciliation begins on Friday, April 8 with Mass at 9.00 am followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and a brief prayer service. Individual confessions also will be available on April 8 from 2-6 p.m. At 5.50 we will conclude with Benediction. Stations of the Cross will follow at 6 pm in the church. All parishioners are invited to sign up HERE for half-hour segments of adoration.
Enter into Holy Week sanctified and reconciled. Experience the celebration of the Last Supper, the unveiling and exaltation of the cross as a sign of victory on Good Friday and the jubilant remembrance and reenactment of the Passover on Holy Saturday in Easter Vigil. Our saving Lord died but is risen from the dead. He is our joy for all ages!
