Celebrate Grandparents and the Elderly July 25!

A special Mass and reception will be offered at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday liturgy in celebration of the first World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. Please invite and/or bring any grandparents or older friends to join us!

Pope Francis has marked the fourth Sunday in July to honor this cherished group of folks whoso generously pass on the faith, keep memories alive and bless us with their love and care. Let’s fill the pews with seniors and young people; parents and children; grandparents and grandchildren; special elders who serve as inspiration and people who may belong to different families.

In addition to the reception, we will celebrate by:

  • Offering a photo opportunity to spread the word across social media (#STAindy) that we love and honor our seniors. Please bring your cellphones so that you also can share your smiles and good wishes to grandparents and older loved ones who are unable to attend the Mass.
  • Remembering seniors who are with us in spirit.
  • Providing copies of the Pope’s prayer for this celebration.
  • Supplying note cards with the Pope’s special message– Jesus’ reminder that “I am with you always.”

If you know of any seniors who may need a ride on July 25, contact Pastoral Associate Karla Hudecek atkhudecek@staidy.org to arrange transportation.

If your grandparents or favorite seniors are unable to attend, please consider visiting, calling or sending them a note of appreciation and affection.
