Parents of second-graders interested in First Communion are invited to attend a planning meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, in the 3rd Grade classroom at St. Thomas Aquinas School. Preparation for receiving the Eucharist begins in the fall with children learning about and receiving the sacrament of First Reconciliation. Information about the process will be offered at the parent meeting, as well as an overview of materials that will be used.
Children must be baptized to make the sacrament of Reconciliation. If your child was not baptized at St, Thomas Aquinas, please bring a copy of their baptismal certificate. If you have the original and cannot make a copy, please bring the original and we will copy it for you after our meeting.
For First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion we ask families to pay a $50 activity fee per child for each sacrament. The money goes toward food and activities that we do during the retreats, photos, and other sacramental preparation expenses. Please bring cash or a $50 check made out to St. Thomas Aquinas to the parent meeting.
