Earth Week activities 2013

Tuesday, April 16

Earth Week Mass – led by the Earth Council

I pledge Allegiance to the Earth

And all the Life which it supports

One Planet, in our care,


With sustenance and respect for all

       Begin collecting old sneaker type shoes for recycling (no flip flops or sandals) and batteries

Monday, April 22: Earth Day!

  • Wear a nature themed or Earth colored shirt (brown, green, blue) with uniform pants.  Pay $1 to wear jeans or other non-uniform pants.
  • Beginning of Food drive – bring in food for the Food Pantry

Tuesday, April 23 (No Mass today)

  • Extra recess to appreciate God’s gift of nature

Wednesday, April 24

  • Crushed Aluminum Can Collection
    • Rinsed out ALUMINUM cans ONLY (no steel cans or foil)
    • Bring your CRUSHED aluminum cans to your class area in the STA parking lot between 7:20 and 7:50.  Student Council reps will be there to help unload.
    • Class that brings in the most cans by weight will win an ice cream party!
  • Last day to bring in sneakers and batteries.  Earth Council will sort shoes at lunchtime.

Thursday, April 25

  • Faith partner picnic and “Least Lunch Trash” contest.  Have fun with your faith partner and enjoy the Earth. Bring a blanket to sit on. Bring an Earth friendly lunch with the least amount of
    • Recess 11:35 Lunch 12:05   Grades 1, 4, and 8; K and 6
    • Lunch 11:35 Recess 12:05   Grades 2 and 5; 3 and 7
  • Last day to bring food for the food drive – Earth Council will sort and load food

Friday, April 26:  Grandparent’s Day!

  • Walk to school!
  • Mass at 8:30
  • Winners of all contests announced
