Introduction incoming principal

Good afternoon, St. Thomas School Families!

As I was working to clean out my classroom of 20 years, I realized that many families don’t know me unless they have had children in Grades 5 and above. I would like to introduce myself.

I grew up in a small northern Indiana town, Warsaw. We were lucky enough to live on a lake that had a speed limit of 15 mph so no skiing for us! I graduated from Purdue with a business degree and worked for nine years at AT&T companies. After staying home for a few years to raise my kids, I decided teaching was what I really wanted to do. Funny how your childhood dreams come back once you’ve had children of your own.

As a result, I found myself at Marian University studying Elementary Education. I was hired at St. Thomas in 1999 then decided to pursue my Masters in Education and Administrator’s License at Indiana Wesleyan. For the last eight years, I’ve served as assistant principal while teaching mostly 5th Grade. During this time, St. Thomas became my “home” – a place where I’ve come to know peace, respect, understanding and support. The teachers, staff and community have become a part of me.

At home, I’ve been blessed with three wonderful children who are all married. Last year our family was blessed further with two baby boys. I love working in my yard, reading, boating and spending time at the beach.

I am grateful for the opportunities God has given me over the years. I value the guidance and mentoring that Mrs. Swinefurth has provided the last seven years. Finally, I thank Father Michael for his confidence and support as well as the faith he has shown me to do the best for the St. Thomas community.

A midsummer back to school letter is coming soon! Please know my door is always open. I wish you a relaxing and safe summer.

Peace ~ Nancy Valdiserri
