Welcome to Draw like Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt van Rijn, Vincent van Gogh and Janet Fish
Instructor: Wini Wood
The following is a brief description of what we will be doing this week. All projects are geared to give each child the opportunity to express themselves through art, introduce them to drawing and painting masters and to create drawings in their styles. We will use our studios to create projects.

Each day will start with warm-up exercises. Next we will review types of lines. I will show examples of drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt van Rijn, Vincent van Gogh, and Janet Fish. Students will analyze the differences in their drawing techniques.

Throughout the week we will refer to the artists and our project will be a drawing of each students favorite stuffed animal using line and color. We work on this project each morning incorporating different line techniques, line weight, diagonal lines, hatching, cross hatching, and contour lines.

The afternoon session will revolve around drawing for painting. We will view videos on how to draw for painting and practice the techniques on canvas panels. They will be able to paint the panels. The students will be given time to use the studios to create projects.

The following is a brief description of what we will be doing this week. All projects are geared to give each child the opportunity to express themselves through art, introduce them to three great painting masters and to create paintings in their styles. We will use our studios to create projects.

Monday: We will star by making portfolios to keep our artwork in. Next, we will study the Impressionist period focusing on Pissaro. Then we will create a painting in his style. We learn about Impressionist style of painting and compare him to other Impressionist painters. We will incorporate short strokes and using warm and cool colors and creating image of mixing by placing strokes of color next to one another.

Tuesday: Today we will create books for observational drawings. Next we will continue our study of Pissaro, we will complete our paintings using acrylics on canvas panels. We will go outside and draw from nature in our books. We will use chalk pastels and charcoal sticks.

Wednesday: To start the day, campers will study the works of artists Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. We will compare the styles and the interaction of these two master artist. Then we use oil pastels and watercolor to create our own Cubist Picasso portrait. We will also cover proportion and symmetry and how each artist used these design elements.

Thursday: Today, we will work on projects using different mediums. We will start with a mixed media painting from a still life. We will discuss the use of color and color mixing to relate these elements of art in our own action paintings. We will also review lines. First they will complete the Picasso portraits. We will complete our all projects.
