It is with heavy hearts that we learned our beloved former pastor Fr. Bill Munshower passed away this morning at Westminster Village where he was a resident.  While Fr. Munshower’s death came unexpectedly, he had been declining in health for some time, and died peacefully following breakfast.

A champion of civil rights and social justice, Fr. Munshower served as pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas from 1994 until 2005, as well as assistant pastor from 1963-71. He oversaw the 2001 addition to the current church, which tied together the school, church and Parish Center for the first time. Significantly, it created an expansive Narthex that reflected his love of community and the welcoming, inclusive spirit of the parish.

Ordained in 1958, Fr. Munshower was pastor of Holy Spirit Parish in Indianapolis for 22 years and also served as the administrator of St. Agnes in Nashville and the sacramental minister of St. Andrew the Apostle in Indianapolis.

A small private graveside service is being planned.  A Memorial Mass and full celebration of Fr. Munshower’s life and ministry will be held at a later date.  Please keep him and his family in your prayers.  May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
